MEASURED ACHIEVEMENT

Wynwood School of Music faculty and program staff members meet regularly with classroom teachers and administrators to plan and reflect on student progress and programmatic impact; we base our private lessons off of the following template:

1. Technique
Developing your technique is like going to the gym. Building up your strength and your coordination on your instrument has benefits in every area of your playing, and is an essential part of every lesson. Technique can involve exercises like warm-ups, scales, arpeggios, speed bursts, and excerpts from challenging repertoire.

2. Music Literacy
In order to play music, you have to be able to communicate! Depending on what you want to achieve, music literacy can involve Music Theory, learning to Read Music, or Ear Training. Usually it involves a mix of all three! These skills allow you to learn music more quickly and even play music with others.

3. Repertoire
There’s no better way to put your skills to work than by playing a song you love rocking out to!

4. Recital Repertoire
At the end of the semester we will host a private lesson student recital to showcase your hard work and talent that you have been honing on in your lessons with your instructor; the repertoire chosen for the recital is meant to really bring out your inner rock star!
